Black Theatre Day – September 17th

Happy Black Theatre Day!

Tomorrow, September 17th, we collectively honor and celebrate the anniversary of the African Grove Theatre— the first professional Black theatre company in the United States— who over 200 years ago had their first opening night on September 17th, 1821.

Black Theatre Day is an annual day of solidarity and service, which increases visibility, amplifies Black theatrical institutions, and encourages year-round support for Black theatres.

We are so thankful to Dr. Monica White Ndounou for creating and organizing this amazing day of unity and recognition.

Looking forward to celebrating with you!
