They’re honoring the legendary August Wilson — the master storyteller who gave the Black experience an unforgettable voice on the American stage.

Friday, August 29th – 7:30PM

This three-day celebration kicks off Friday, August 29th with a powerful staged reading of Two Trains Running. Set in 1969 Pittsburgh’s Hill District, it’s a gripping portrait of a community facing gentrification, change, and the pulse of the Civil Rights Movement.

Saturday, August 30th – 9AM

At 9am on Saturday, August 30th, join a free workshop— for students of Wilson, of all ages! — Unlocking Emotional Performances through Rasaboxes with Shanae Sharon.

Saturday, August 30th – 7:30PM

At 7:30pm on Saturday, August 30th, the crowd-favorite GROWN FO’KES Monologue Competition returns—bigger, bolder, and with cash prizes for the top three winners!

Sunday, August 31st – 3PM

They close the festival Sunday, August 31st with an encore reading of Two Trains Running — because one performance just isn’t enough.

PARKING:

Please watch all street signs, especially areas with permitted parking. Most parking restrictions are lifted after 6pm. Ridesharing is HIGHLY recommended.

There is all day parking on Waring, east of Sierra Bonita except for street cleaning times.

There is metered parking on Melrose and 2-hour parking in the nearby neighborhood on Vista and Gardener south of Melrose Ave.

There are some parking structures or public valet parking within a block of the theatre.
