Simone’s 1969 call to artists to make revolutionary art that reflects the times is an essential reminder to us all.
Come witness soulful musical numbers by Lemmons, Judlyne, CJ Hightower, and Olivia Nkomi; powerful actor performances by m, Jha’Neal Blue, Jac’leen Smith, Mikayla Bartholomew, Leonard Thomas, Erika Degraff, Rhym Guissé; and inspiring poetry by Yazmin Monet Watkins, Danielle P. Williams, Arielle Estoria, Barbara Fant, Milan Eatmon, Ayana Amoa, and Michael Anderson.
It will be an evening filled with good music, good eating, good conversation, good art & a transformative grounding exercise by Lé Trois Apothecary!

About Jana Naomi Smith
Jana Naomi Smith is an Ambie and Tribeca Festival award–winning storyteller whose work spans film, audio, cultural programming, and education. She wrote and directed Red for Revolution, a six-part audio narrative of love and liberation, starring Jordan Hull, S. Epatha Merkerson, Loretta Devine, Rutina Wesley, Renée Wilson, Jennifer Beals, Aunjanue Ellis-Taylor, Danny Glover, and adrienne maree brown. She was also a writing-producer on Built to Last from American Express, hosted by Elaine Welteroth, featuring Issa Rae and Kimberly Drew, and an editor/producer on various GirlTrek podcasts. As a programmer and curator, Jana has shaped films and panels for the Human Rights Watch Film Festival, Rooftop Films, and America ReFramed, and curated community events such as Hansberry in the Park, Baldwin at the Beach and Toni at the Library, honoring literary icons. She’s also directed documentaries for numerous organizations. She teaches screenwriting and filmmaking for youth and adults, and studied film studies at Sarah Lawrence College.
