A Great Day in Black Theatre

Come out this Saturday, September 13th at 1pm to be a part of history!

In anticipation of this year’s Black Theatre Day, the LA Black Theatre community is coming together to take one, iconic photo in front of the legendary Nate Holden Performing Arts Center.

This photo will be an homage to the classic photograph, “A Great Day in Harlem,” which gathered as many of the luminaries of the New York jazz scene as possible for Esquire’s 1959 Golden Age of Jazz edition.

“A Great Day in Harlem” has been called the most iconic photo in jazz history.

If you’re a Black theatre artist, we invite you to join us! Let’s gather together, as the faces that shape and represent Black theatre in Los Angeles for “A Great Day in Black Theatre.” Being a part of this history-in-the-making photo is just one of many ways that you can celebrate Black Theatre Day this year.
