Come celebrate Kwanzaa with live blues music inspired by the legendary Gil Scott-Heron – it’s gonna be an extravaganza!

Welcome to A Cultural Faire and Kwanzaa Extravaganza!

Poets Jazz House and Creative Love Network Presents a fun-filled family day on the first day of Kwanzaa to celebrate Family, Community and Culture.

Join them and bring the whole family for a day filled with singing, dancing, storytelling, poetry, African drumming and feasting, there’s something for everybody of all ages and Free-Hair Cuts for anybody who wants one.

The First day of Kwanzaa represents:

Kwanzaa is a 7-day festival held annually  Dec. 26 to Jan. 1 that celebrates African and American culture and history. Created by Maulana Karenga in 1966 as a way to bring African Americans together to remember Black culture.  Karenga believed “you must have a cultural revolution before the violent revolution. The cultural revolution gives identity, purpose and direction.”

Kwanzaa celebrations include Even though the official celebration is seven days long, the guiding principles are meant to be incorporated into daily life. The weeklong period is meant to reinforce the seven guiding principles of Nguzo Saba.
