Stages of Freedom: A Day of Culture and Community in Leimert Park

Support Black Theatre, artEquity, WACO Theater Center, and The Last Acting Studio are teaming up for this year’s Fall of Freedom to bring you a three-part community gathering in beautiful Leimert Park.

First, step inside the newly renovated historic Vision Theatre for a special sneak peek with WACO Theatre Center before its grand reopening celebrations begin. Together, we’ll explore this treasured cultural landmark and honor the importance of preserving and supporting spaces where Black creativity and freedom can thrive.

Then, join Founder/Executive Directors Carmen Morgan (artEquity) and Sophina Brown (Support Black Theatre) at Lore Bookstore for a moderated conversation with Nicole M. Brewer, author of the new book The Antiracist Theatre. Together, they’ll explore how we can practice theatre in ways that move all of us toward greater freedom and collective liberation. The conversation will be followed by an audience Q&A and book signing.

Lastly, kick back and relax with delicious food and drinks at ORA Cafe. We’ll close the evening in community, making space for connection, fellowship, and the liberating conversations that can happen when we simply take the time to gather!

This is a free event, but space is extremely limited. RSVP to reserve your spot.
