Happy Black Theatre Day!
Today, we celebrate the legacy of the African Grove Theatre, the first known Black professional theatre company in the United States, established in 1821.
Spearheaded by The Craft Institute, this annual celebration is a powerful day of service and solidarity, dedicated to amplifying the voices and visibility of Black theatre institutions all across the country.
It features artists throughout Los Angeles, to commemorate this 203rd-year anniversary.
